Plumbing pricing varies more than most trades because so much of it is charged by time. These questions pin down what you will actually pay.
On price
- Is there a call-out charge, and does it include any labour time?
- Is this a fixed price or an hourly rate, and what is the minimum charge?
- What are your out-of-hours and weekend rates?
- Are parts included, and do you mark them up?
- Are you VAT registered?
On the work
- Are you Gas Safe registered, if the job touches gas or the boiler?
- Will you need to lift floorboards or cut into anything, and who makes good afterwards?
- Do you carry common parts, or will you need to order?
- What guarantee applies to the parts and to your labour?
- Will you leave the area clean and take the old fittings away?
